Managing Director, Novelis China

Being Managing Director, Novelis China, Mr.James Liu has been leading Novelis’ expansion plans in China in alignment with our long-term growth strategy for Asia. Meanwile, he is also grasping every opportunity to make the best use for the significant growth of Novelis business in auto industry. Besides, he is developing the Chinese market in the Greater China where our Specialty products are used.

Prior to join Novelis, Mr. James Liu served as Vice President and Managing Director, Alcoa International (Asia) Limited for four years. In this role, James was responsible for all the commercial activities of Alcoa Flat Rolled Products in Asia, including strategic planning, sales, marketing, customer technical service, sales administration and trade compliance. Before that, Mr. James Liu was President for Lysaght China under BHP STEEL. He was responsible for the operation of 20 sales offices in Mainland China in addtion to 4 plants in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu. He won plenty of projects during his tenure with BHP STEEL including the eye-catching landmark project - the construction of Beijing Olymplic Stadium.

Mr. James Liu holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Tsinghua University, a master’s degree in materials science and engineering from Shanghai JiaoTong University in Shanghai, China, and an Executive MBA from the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS).
