Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) continue to push the technology aiming to improve safety and enhance the driving experience while minimizing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Hence, safer and more cost effective systems in the automobile continue to increase the need for more intelligent applications. This together with the requirement for high reliability under automotive operating environments is demanding from the market smarter contactless sensors.

In order to face this challenge, TE Connectivity has a wide technology portfolio with a variety of contactless sensors to meet our customer’s requirements either with tailored specific designs or using existing platform designs. The technologies used by TE include Hall base (switches, linear, 3D Hall), Anisotropic Magneto Resistance (AMR), Giant Magneto Resistance (GMR), Permanent Contact-less Displacement (PLCD), and Variable Reluctance (Resolvers). The application range where these technologies have been implemented varies from brake, chassis, clutch, engine/E-motor and transmissions.

TE is not new on any of these applications, we were the first company over 10 years ago to mass produce contact-less sensors for the automotive market and have delivered since then over 80 million sensors for the Automotive and Commercial Vehicle Industries world wide. Currently we are the leading supplier for power train travel sensors and continue to work on innovative designs to satisfy our customer demands.
